Wow. what an experience! Okay first thing first.
I checked the UiTM portal, nak check lah kan dapat tak interview seni bina tu.
AlhamduLILLAH dapat! Excited gila haha terloncat loncat jugak ah.
The interview was at UiTM Sri Iskandar, Perak. Dapat tahu ja panggilan temuduga terus inform family and my senior yang take the course jugak. Tanya apa yang perlu tahu kalau nak pergi interview ni. She said "tip for interview : dont prepare much." Just answer whatever the interviewer asked based on knowledge that you know. And guess what. i dont know a thing haha. Ya la kat rumah kerja melukis ja tak ambik tahu pulak pasal famous architects or landmarks and buildings.
My mom helped me a lot, gave me inputs about architecture. Since she was an interior designer, she told me about famous buildings, architects and steps before start to design structures of a building.
My aunty helped me a lot in gaining self confidence, she said answer their questions like a 18 year old teen but with confidence. They didnt expect you to be an 'instant pro'.
So 23 April 2016, aku pergilah UiTM Sri Iskandar. Muka confident gila haha tapi hati dupdapdupdap.
Mula-mula aku tak boleh buat ujian lukis sesi satu sebab diaorang kata dah full. So kena tunggu sesi dua. Then, tiba-tiba diaorang kata "kami nak lagi 7 orang." And aku orang yang ketujuh yang naik. Memang luck gila. So masuk tu, aku nampak ah ramai orang dalam bilik tu. Ada dua bilik, aku masuk bilik melukis 2. Objects yang dia letak kat depan ada cube, cuboid, pyramid, cylinder and two balls. One of the balls siap kemek hahah sebab nak suruh kitaorang shade la tu.
Aku duduk depan sekali, lepastu ada abang ni tanya "silau tak dik?" aku kata ah silau la jugak sebab tempat aku betul-betul depan tingkap. Dia tarik meja aku, letak betul-betul tepi objects tu. Aku bersyukur sebab dari pandangan tu tak nampak banyak shadow. Lepastu dalam 30 minit, abang tu tanya lagi "adik, kalau ada sorang lagi duduk sebelah adik boleh? dia tak nampak ah." "yea sure."
And sebab budak laki tu duduk sebelah aku, meja aku dia tolak sikit... Terus lari perspective aku. Aku macam nak nangis.... Tapi aku tabah! Aku teruskan jugak haha. Budak laki sebelah aku tu kesian jugak la. Dia tak start apa pun masa dia baru duduk sebelah aku tu. Nasib dapat masa tambahan.
Habis melukis, sesi interview pulak. Aku habis melukis pukul 9.30 Tapi aku masuk interview pukul 11.35 macam tu. Sebelum masuk tu, aku sempat la buat kawan haha then kawan-kawan yang habis interview dulu dari aku bagitahu la apa soalan yang ditanya
1. Tell me about yourself (okay ni wajib)
2. Your favourite architect ?
3. Inspired building ?
4. Why you choose to be an architect ?
5. What kind of building you want to create ?
Aku dengar tu dah cuak. Banyak nau. Tapi muka maintain. Kononnya 100% ready. Sorang interview dalam 10-15 minutes. lama gila kan? Aku pun heran hahaha sebab ramai calon. Sempat ka nak habis?
11.35 diaorang panggil nama aku. Below is how the interview went.
Interviewer 1 (i1) : Please give us your spm slip, ic (yang wajib-wajib tu la)
Me : Yea sure but i didnt make any copy for my certificates since in the letter it didnt mention about making any copy for the certificates
i1 : (Time ni muka dia macam tak puas hati) it's been stated. see? (sumpah kat surat tak tulis pun bawak salinan sijil, tapi bawak la lain kali kalau datang interview)
Me : Oh im really sorry (mengaku salah ja la walaupun tak salah)
i2 : Nevermind it's okay. please have a seat.
i2 : So.. tell us about yourself
Me : (i told my name, my previous school and age, then...) i've been drawing since i was a kid and since both of my parents were interior designers i got to see a lot of their works and i tried to copy their works but failed miserably haha then in primary school i got involved in many posters competition and won couple of times and also represented my school in district level. Then in middle school, i was not really active in arts but last january i've done a mural project (they stared at me when i mentioned mural) at my school.
i1 : oh so your parents were interior designers? Did they worked with company or...
Me : My dad had a firm, Hadzuan Construction SDN BHD. but then my father passed away and the firm is closed
(then, cakap la pasal family sikit-sikit. datang dengan sapa. stay dengan grandparents and stuffs)
i2 : So why architecture ?
Me : I like to create, to design things. So, i would love to challenge myself to do more complex stuff since i like unique structures and with this much of talent that i had i think i can elaborate my hobby to a successful career. I also see myself in the future as a successful architect who can contribute to the community and country.

i2 : Okay. that's it thank you :)
Me : that's it? (muka macam confuse)
i2 : yea. (she laughed with i1) because you have the talent
(hati berbunga-bunga time dia selak sketch book)
i1 : We'll be taking new students on september. So you'll have time to take MUET and practice autocad
Me : oh ive been to a training in Taiping about autocad. (Bersyukur masuk innovation toolkit sampai peringkat kebangsaan)
i1 : GREAT! can you go and photostat that certificate ?
Me : Yea sure!
(Aku pun pergilah photostat and pergi hantar balik kat panel tu)
i2 : okay thanks fara
i1 : thanks, and see you soon! bye bye :D
see you soon? OMG Aku interview dalam 5-6 minit macam tu ja. kejap gila haha
Then, diaorang bagi la ujian buta warna. sonang ja ah
So, here's the tips.
Be yourself.
Be honest.
And bring your sketches. Tak kisah la zaman bila punya. Tunjuk hasil kerja tu.
Show them what you got! Something that you have and people dont.
Yes. your talent.
orang lain pun bertalent of course but each person have their own kind of talent and i think my interview was really short because of the drawings and sketched that i brought.
